Development of the location aware platform on wobini.ch
This project is about developing a mobile software for users to locate themselves and send the information online to share it. Most of the time, the first sentence of a mobile phone call is where are you? This service gives an alternative way of answering the question. Friends and families can share their current and past locations online. Another typical use of this service could be for sport addicts to live track their runs. Their friends and family could then on see online exactly where they are right now. The project also targets web developers which could use the provided information in feeds and build new mashups. Wobini.ch is a location based service website. The main idea of this website is to give you several services depending on your location. It is a playground project by Liip, a Swiss agile web development company. Before enhancing the provided services and developing new ones the objective is to widen the basic structures of the platform. Keeping that in mind the project consists in two parts: - Developing a mobile phone software to allow users to locate themselves from their cell phones. They will be able to send to the wobini server their location whenever they want. If the phone has access to a GPS it will use this information to locate oneself even more precisely. - Adding sharing possibilities to the wobini platform in order for the users to reuse the information of their locations. This means providing geoRSS feeds, KML files and other APIs. Keywords : Geolocation, geoRSS, Google maps, GPS, J2ME, KML, Location aware, Mobile phone
